A Moment For Theory
In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is believed that through invisible channels, called meridians, vital energy flows -- or a life force called chi (qi). These meridians connect specific organs or organ systems, organizing a system of communication throughout the body. Access to these systems is attained through energetic acupoints located along the 12 major meridians and 2 extraordinary vessels.
According to this theory, when one of these meridians is blocked or out of balance, disease can develop. The longer an imbalance is allowed to persist, the deeper the level of disease.
Acupressure and acupuncture are among the types of TCM that are thought to help restore balance.
Acupressure is not meant to be a cure for disease. It is meant to prevent disease, by catching imbalances before they move deeper into the body.
So What Can You Expect…
With a very sick animal- improvements can be achieved. As imbalances are uncovered and restored we can slowly see life and health restore. It is important to take time and not overwhelm a sick being. Some animals can have amazing recoveries, others only mild improvements. With a deteriorating animal, comfort is one of the most valuable improvements available to us.
With an injured animal- Acupressure can ease pain feeling and aid in healing. Maximizing energy flow also increases the flow of blood and nutrients and can support the natural healing process.
With an aging animal- As an animal ages the body slows as energy begins to deplete, this is the normal life process. Acupressure can help maintain balance, support organ systems, soothe inflammation, improve cognition and lift the spirit.
With a healthy, young animal- Can a healthy animal benefit from Acupressure? Of course! Imbalances can be caught early and restored before they develop. Balance can affect health, mood, and bodily functions.
